Hello, and welcome to my blog! I’m thrilled you’re here. I am a Korean-American mom with two beautiful kids working full time job. As a mom of two lively kids, life can feel like a whirlwind of activity. I often find myself balancing work, family, and everything in between, leaving little time for myself. It’s in these quieter moments, usually after the kids are tucked into bed, that I’ve realized how much I crave a creative outlet. Inspired by the movie Julie and Julia, I decided to embark on my own journey of discovery through blogging. I chose the name umma maum because umma means mom in Korean and maum (umma spelled backwards in korean) means heart. So this blog is a piece of my heart to whoever is reading it out there.
Growing up, I never really had hobbies that I passionately pursued. It wasn’t until I became a mom that this absence became glaringly obvious. After my children went to sleep, I found myself scrolling through social media for hours before falling asleep- unsure of what to do with the precious time I had to myself. I longed for something productive and fulfilling—something just for me. It became clear that I needed to step outside my comfort zone and challenge myself in new ways.
With the arrival of October, I set two ambitious goals: to launch this blog and to open an Etsy shop selling digital products. I’m proud to say that I’ve accomplished both! This blog is a space where I plan to share what I’ve learned along my motherhood journey, what has resonated with me, and what strategies have worked (and sometimes failed). My hope is that by sharing my experiences, I can create a sense of community among fellow moms who may be feeling the same way.
Now, let’s talk about what you can expect from this blog. I’ll be diving into a variety of topics that reflect my life as a busy mom. From practical tips for juggling work and family to self-care ideas that help us recharge, I aim to provide relatable content that resonates with your experiences. I want to create a space where we can discuss the joys and challenges of motherhood openly.
One of the driving forces behind this blog is the desire to make sure that no mom feels alone in her journey. Motherhood can be isolating, and I want to foster a sense of connection and support. Through my stories, I hope to remind you that it’s okay to struggle and that it’s perfectly normal to seek out time for yourself. We all need moments of reprieve, and together, we can navigate the ups and downs of parenting.
